Unilever is a British multinational consumer goods company headquartered in London, England, founded on 2 September 1929, by the merger of the Dutch margarine producer Margarine Unie and the British soap maker Lever Brothers. Unilever's products are available in around 190 countries and over 2.5B people use Unilever products every day. Unilever owns over 400 brands, with a turnover in 2020 of 51 billion euros, 58% of sales coming from emerging markets and 13 brands with sales of over 1B euros: Axe/Lynx, Dove, Omo/Persil, Heart ice creams, Hellmann's, Knorr, Lipton, Lux, Magnum, Rexona/Degree, Lifebuoy, Sunsilk and Sunlight. Unilever is organized into three main divisions: Foods and Refreshments; Home Care; and Beauty & Personal Care. It has research and development facilities in China, India, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States and employs over 149 thousand employees globally.
