Veteran Jobs Mission Convenes in Chicago
The Veteran Jobs Mission recently convened in Chicago for two valuable events focused on veteran hiring and career development.
On Thursday, July 18, MillerCorps and JPMorgan Chase & Co. hosted an evening networking reception for more than 70 fellow VJM member organizations and local partners. Over 100 participants, representing industries across the private and public sector, gathered to discuss best practices and make new connections in the veteran employment space.
The VJM’s efforts were reinforced by Sam Skinner who served as the Chief of Staff to President George H.W. Bush, as U.S Secretary of Transportation and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Sam discussed his own professional career and the importance of private sector support of those transitioning out of service and joining the workforce.
The coalition’s efforts continued the following day at the 2019 Chicago Veteran Summit sponsored by VJM member Deloitte. The day-long workshop, with HR professionals from across a variety of industries, featured discussions on recruiting, retaining and developing veteran talent.
These events are the latest example of how the Veteran Jobs Mission continues to support the continued sharing of ideas and facilitate connections between companies and veteran service organizations with a shared mission of promoting veteran career success.
